While he was never a member of the Communist Party, his wife was. In a brave act of loyalty that effectively ended his career, Garfield testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee saying that he did not know any Communists.

Film historian, author, and cinema host Alan Rode will sign copies of his book, Michael Curtiz: A Life in Film, about the director of The Breaking Point and Casablanca.
